Tour of Macon, Georgia

Enjoy a visit to the Hay House, an 1855-1859 Italian Renaissance Revival Villa, one of the most spectacular houses in Georgia. Visit the Sidney Lanier Cottage where the poet laurite of the South was born in 1842, and see the Harriet Tubman Museum. Also select either the Georgia Music Hall of Fame or the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame to round out your visit. Have lunch in downtown Macon and take in a quick drive around some of Macon's historical districts. Nine hours. Or visit Macon during the Cherry Blossom Festival for a view of the 280,000 Cherry Trees and spend time at the festival's fairgrounds park (Cherry Blossom Festival dates vary, but the event is usually held in March or April).
